Eight months ago the Latin American finished steel output and consumption volume decline
The latest statistics released by the Latin American Iron and Steel Institute show that the first eight months of this year, Latin America and the Caribbean (abbreviation: Latin America) national crude steel production was 43.1 million tons, down 1%. Among them, the Brazilian crude steel production of 22.7 million tons, a slight increase of 0.4 percent year on year, accounting for 53 percent of the region's crude steel production. 1--8 months, finished steel production in Latin America is 36 million tons, down 3%. Among them, the Brazilian finished steel production was 15.7 million tons, is the region's largest steel producer, accounting for 44 percent of the region's total output of finished steel; followed by Mexico with 11.7 million tons, production in the region accounted for 32% .
From the apparent consumption of view, 1--8 months, apparent finished steel consumption in Latin America is 46.1 million tons, down 2%, growth in some countries were offset by a decline in other countries. Eight months ago, Mexico and Chile's steel consumption to maintain a rapid growth rate, which the Mexican steel consumption grew by 9%, an increase of 1.3 million tons, is the largest country in the region grow; Chile consumption is an increase of 7%, an increase 121,000 tons; another Argentine consumption grew 1%, increase 35,000 tons. But on the other hand, eight months ago, the Brazilian finished steel consumption declined, down 2.2 million tons, down 13%; Colombia and Peru finished steel consumption also decreased significantly, down 8% and 7%, respectively.
